RETIREE BRUNCHES

The two retiree brunches planned for each year are held in the fall and again in the spring at the Faculty Club located on the University of Alberta campus.

All newly retired teachers, or anyone who is thinking of retiring, are invited to a brunch at the Faculty Club to meet members of the Board and fellow retirees. We welcome all newly retired teachers to come and learn about ERTA and enjoy the setting.

Since the buffet does not open until 11:30 a.m., brunch guests who arrive earlier are asked to assemble in the lounge just inside the front door before proceeding to our designated seating area. Free parking in both the Faculty Club parking lot and the Windsor Car Park located next door can be accessed from 116 Street.

You are encouraged to bring your spouse, a colleague or a friend. You will be informed of the cost through the newsletter. Please check the fall and spring newsletters or the website’s News & Events section regularly for the dates and cost for this event.

Retired teachers are impacted by changing federal and provincial government policies. Fiscal policies, positively or negatively, affect the financial, health and social benefits enjoyed by retired teachers. ERTA can, with its provincial counterpart, the Alberta Retired Teachers' Association (ATRA), closely monitor policy changes and provide a means for retirees to voice their concerns on matters that affect their welfare. ERTA works in close association with ARTA to affect positive changes for retired teachers in the following areas:

In addition, ARTA has negotiated group plans for the following types of benefits:
